About this site

We are DIY solar enthusiasts, not a retailer. This site exists because pricing a build meant opening a dozen vendor tabs, and because the sites that claimed to solve that mostly scraped Amazon for referral links.

The problem we were trying to fix

Two things made sourcing parts harder than it needed to be.

The first is that prices live in a dozen places. A pallet of panels at one vendor, a hybrid inverter at another, server rack batteries at a third — each with its own pack sizes, freight rules and naming. Comparing them means normalising everything by hand, which is tedious enough that most people stop and just buy from whoever they already know.

The second is that the sites promising to fix it usually did not. A "best solar panels" page that lists six Amazon results is not a price comparison; it is a referral funnel wearing one. It tells you nothing about a pallet of bifacials at $0.29/Wbecause those are not sold on Amazon at all.

What we do instead

We track 1,425 products from15 vendors and 66 manufacturers, and normalise every one to the metric that actually decides a purchase: dollars per watt for panels and inverters, dollars per kilowatt-hour for batteries, dollars per amp for charge controllers.

That normalising is most of the work. A pallet price divided by one panel looks like a terrible deal; a two-pack listed at its pack price looks twice as expensive as it is; a hybrid inverter advertising "24kW PV input, 12kW output" is a 12kW inverter. Getting these right is the difference between a price list and a table of numbers.

Completeness over commission

We earn from affiliate links where a programme exists, and we will take one wherever we can. But we would rather the list be complete than profitable, so:

How prices are collected

Every price comes from the vendor's own public product listing, re-read automatically once a day. Each row shows the date its price was last collected, and rows that have gone stale are marked rather than quietly left to rot.

Marketplace prices work differently. Amazon and eBay prices are fetched live when you ask for them and are never stored, because both programmes require that and because a stored marketplace price is wrong within hours anyway.

Automated extraction gets things wrong. We put deliberate guards in the way — a listing whose price per watt is physically implausible is dropped rather than published, and panel specifications are checked against their own fill factor — but some errors will get through. Always confirm price and specification on the vendor's page before buying.Nothing here is a quote.

What we track

Vendors we currently track

Anker SOLIX · BLUETTI · BougeRV · Current Connected · Docan Power · Eco-Worthy · Humsienk · Jackery · LiTime · Pecron · Redodo · Renogy · SanTan Solar · Signature Solar · SunGoldPower · Vatrer Power · WattCycle

Know a vendor we are missing, or spot a price that looks wrong? That is the most useful thing you can tell us.

Safety

Nothing here is electrical advice. DC arcs do not self-extinguish, lithium batteries fail energetically, and an inverter fed past its PV input voltage is destroyed instantly. Know what you are doing, and use a licensed electrician where your jurisdiction requires one.
